Just months after Crushers’ Captain, Bryson DeChambeau, led his team to victory on the legendary Blue Monster at the 2023 LIV Golf Miami Team Championship, players reconvened for the third consecutive year at the iconic Trump National Doral for yet another thrilling showdown. Unlike previous seasons where Trump Doral served as the host site for the LIV Golf Team Championships, this event marked a regular-season stroke-play-only fixture, the fifth on the 2024 LIV Golf calendar. Set just one week before The Masters, anticipation was at an all-time high as golf enthusiasts eagerly awaited the return of top players, such as two-time Major winner Dustin Johnson, five-time Major winner Brooks Koepka, and one-time Major winner Bryson DeChambeau, among many others. Adding to the excitement, fans were thrilled to witness the inaugural appearance of 2023 Major Champion, Jon Rahm.
From the meticulous efforts of our grounds and maintenance crew to the five-star hospitality and unwavering service provided by our waitstaff and beyond, the Trump National Doral team orchestrated yet another triumphant tournament! Their unwavering dedication and expertise elevated it to extraordinary heights—so much so that top players couldn’t help but marvel about the astonishing course conditions. From flawlessly groomed fairways to immaculate greens, every aspect of the award-winning 7,701-yard, par 72 course exuded excellence.
“This organization does it better than anyone else. I have an incredible operations team and an unbelievable agronomy team – they’re the ones who really make this all come to life. The golf course is absolutely glowing, and that is 100% due to our agronomy team. Three events in 18 months is a pretty heavy lift, but this property is built for it. [This event] takes a lot of prep, a lot of people, and a lot of commitment. I’m really proud of our team.”
- Carrie Ruiz, General Manager of Golf at Trump National Doral
The Donald J. Trump Signature-designed course, bearing the legendary 'Blue Monster' moniker, has reinvigorated the challenge that earned it by retaining its original design while incorporating modern updates, enhanced hazards, and strategic options. Here, golfers of all skill levels are immersed in an environment demanding precision and mastery, thus, setting the stage for an exhilarating golf showdown for all who tune in. Even before stepping foot on the property, players raved about the challenging playing conditions - and how it was the perfect course to practice and perfect their game ahead of the Masters.
“It's a tough golf course, and you've got to be able to ball-strike it here and ball-strike it at Augusta, and I think that's why it's such good preparation.”
- Brooks Koepka, Smash GC Captain
“Every hole is demanding out here. When you win at Doral, you earn it, and it feels good.”
- Bryson DeChambeau, 2023 LIV Miami Team Championship Winner
“It’s not called the Blue Monster for nothing. It’s tough… If you look at the history of who’s won around here, it definitely suits length.”
- Dean Burmester, 2024 LIV Miami Champion
“Anytime you can go to a challenging, demanding golf course before a major championship, I think it's a really good way to prepare for it. Those greens were fast. They were difficult. I think it gets you in the mentality of fighting for every shot.”
- Jon Rahm, Legion XIII Captain, 2024 LIV Miami Team Champions
Throughout the weekend, vibrant energy and camaraderie was found both on and off the course. Attendees enjoyed Fan Village, where they experienced a multitude of sports activations and an array of food options, in addition to an enticing selection of Trump Doral and LIV merchandise, adding to the immersive experience of the event. As the sun set on the second round of golf, fans experienced an exciting private concert by multi-platinum artist, Akon. Combined with other hospitality services at the Birdie Shack and the luxurious Club 54, there was truly something for everyone here, no matter the age or interest.
Complementing the many LIV offerings at the tournament, our Trump Golf members experienced the action unfold from the Member Lounge, located on the iconic 18th hole. Members and their guests from Trump Golf clubs around the world savored in a selection of gourmet dishes expertly paired with refreshing cocktails, panoramic views of the Blue Monster, and a front-row seat to the thrilling final playoff between Sergio Garcia and Dean Burmester.
The tournament unfolded with remarkable performances from players like Talor Gooch, Sergio Garcia, and Peter Uihlein, setting the stage for an exhilarating showdown throughout the weekend. As the rounds progressed, the leaderboard saw shifts and surges, with Garcia taking the lead in the second round and maintaining his position with a strong performance at 9 under. However, the final round witnessed a dramatic turn of events as Dean Burmester jumped to the top of the leaderboard, grabbing the solo lead with a birdie on 16. Despite Garcia's impressive performance, including a 40-foot birdie putt on 17, he ultimately tied with Burmester, forcing a playoff. After matching pars on the first playoff hole, Garcia found the water with his approach shot at the 18th while Burmester safely landed on the green for a two-putt par to win.
“This is a monster of a place, and it’s hosted so many great championships over the years. Now it’s hosting us, and I feel privileged to have won here.”
- Dean Burmester, 2024 LIV Miami Champion
